HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery
Traders are eagerly counting the minutes to the world's third-largest jewellery show
Glamorous timepieces will shine alongside sparkling ornaments at the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2009, the third-largest fair of its kind in the world.
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the fair will dazzle with such highlights as the Watch & Clock Pavilion from 4-8 March at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Addressing a crossover trend between jewellery and timepieces, the pavilion will showcase an exquisite selection of products, including watches studded with precious stones, young and trendy fashion pieces, as well as all manner of clocks ranging from the traditional to the contemporary.
The pavilion reflects the important role of Hong Kong in the global timepiece trade. A leading exporter of watches and clocks, Hong Kong shipped US$5.26bn worth of these products in the first nine months of 2008, up 15% from the same period in the previous year.
Also shining brilliantly is Hong Kong's standing as the world's fourth-largest exporter of fine jewellery, which shipped US$3.51bn worth of products in the first nine months of 2008, up almost 21% from the same period in the previous year.
Against this background, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show is the perfect place to source the hottest offerings and check out the latest product trends.
New in 2009 will be the Brand Gallery, an elegant and luxurious showcase for esteemed international brand names known for their high quality. This section will join returning theme zones:
Adding glitz and glamour will be the new International Jewellery Design Excellence (IJDE) Award, organised by the HKTDC to honour the best of the best by inviting the participation of winners from international jewellery design competitions. The presentation ceremony will take place at the jewellery show, where the winning entries will also be paraded.
Winning pieces in the well-established Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition will likewise be displayed, while a series of jewellery fashion shows will heighten the excitement.
Industry intelligence will be imparted at specialised seminars on such topics as product trends and market developments.
The 2008 show hosted a record 2,306 exhibitors from 45 countries and regions, with Cambodia, Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait and Mexico participating for the first time. A total of 31,333 buyers from 135 countries and regions came through the doors.
Exhibitors invariably offer their best collections. "We usually design 30-40 styles each season and the hottest ones are all showcased here as this is an international platform to which worldwide buyers converge," exhibitor Alice Cheung, Sales Representative, for A.G. Int'l Enterprises Inc of the US, said at the 2008 show.
Visitors, meanwhile, are bound to find good buys. "I've been coming to this fair since its inception. We spend 30%-50% of our annual budget at this fair. It is very well organised," said buyer Karl Corpataux, Director of Merchandising for Swiss company Bucherer.
Given such glittering reviews, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2009 looks certain to promise sparkling success for buyers and exhibitors alike.
