Hong Kong Gifts, Premiums and Stationery

Being organised is the key to success, so it is small wonder that highly efficient individuals always possess a clean and well-organised workplace. To satiate this need, Hong Kong manufacturers have created an assortment of innovative desk sets to keep desktops tidy at affordable prices.
One astute manufacturer of a wide range of desk organisers is Cassia Time Ltd. A Hong Kong-based clock and stationery manufacturer since 1991, it has a versatile range of stylish and sturdy desk sets in crystal and marble.
These have become popular gifts and premiums as they offer outstanding value for money, according to director Joseph So.
Cassia's latest series of innovative crystal and marble desktop accessories, which were unveiled at the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair 2004, were well received, he adds.
"As an experienced manufacturer of desk sets using semi-finished marble we welcome design ideas from our customers. Our products prove popular as clients can choose from a wide variety of stone materials mostly imported from Pakistan," he explains.
"Onyx is favoured by Japanese and Southeast Asian customers, while pure black marble, black/white marble, black/gold marble and Burma teak stone are most sought-after by buyers from Europe and the US."
The company's crystal and marble executive desk set (model CXTL-507G), priced at US$22 FOB Hong Kong per set, comprises a name-card holder, penholder, memo pad holder and a pair of book-ends.
"Other popular desktop accessories we make include clocks, ashtrays, lighters and magnetic clip holders," says So.
Cassia has a track record of working with both OEM and ODM customers, explains So, adding that the firm can produce samples within 14 days. Minimum orders are 200 standard sets, with delivery taking place 40 days after order confirmation.
Cassia can produce 5,000 five-piece sets each month at its 5,000-square-metre factory in Zhejiang Province on the Chinese mainland for export to markets in Japan, the US, Germany and Southeast Asia. It is now expanding its market reach to include the mainland and the Middle East.
"We are moving to a new factory at the end of this year and will be looking at other interesting ways to successfully produce desktop items than can attract more sales," So says.
Those who have taken minimalism to heart will find the ideas at Grandmart Asia Ltd appealing, believes marketing manager Agatha Lau.
A relative newcomer to the field (the firm was established in 2001), Grandmart's strength lies in its wide variety of functional desktop sets and games.
Grandmart's signature corporate desk set items are simple designs executed in aluminium. "To cater to the needs of a broader range of end-users, we will initiate a new line of trendy products in the near future that we hope will appeal more to youngsters," say Lau.
Meanwhile, Grandmart's slim-size desktop games, such as tic-tac-toe, checkers, backgammon and dominoes are selling briskly in large bookstores in Europe and the US, prompting plans for desk sets that combine work and fun, Lau reveals.
A minimum requirement of 1,000 pieces can be delivered to major markets in Europe, Japan and the US within 30 days of receiving a confirmed order.
Honor Start Ltd is another firm that has successfully caught the eye of its target market through "various gimmicks in different materials to gain an edge over the competition", says sales manager Doris Yu.
New products include a puzzle piece-shaped coaster that can hold memos and paper clips (model EA-03), a magnetic memo board/memo pad holder (model MMP-01), and a plain memo holder (model EA-02).
Product designers at Honor Start are "a dedicated lot who mix-and-match different materials to find a magic formula", Yu explains.
"Our latest puzzle coaster features an aluminium body with an EVA base so that it won't slip. It is a new style and is also competitively priced. In addition, our magnetic memo board-cum-memo pad holder is a space-saving design that packs flat and helps minimise shipping costs," Yu says.
The magnetic memo board-cum-memo holder has an FOB Hong Kong unit price of US$2.60. The company seeks a minimum order of 1,000 sets for delivery 40 days after order confirmation.
"Next year, we are thinking of launching our own brand name, which will feature creative designs that will add colour and happiness to daily life," Yu says.
When it comes to gaining pride of place on desktops worldwide with irresistible innovations, Hong Kong manufacturers are virtually unbeatable.
