Swiftronic Ltd's security range includes a door alarm with remote control (top) and an RF movement detection alarm with remote siren
The need to secure residential and working environments is on the rise in an increasingly risky world, and Hong Kong manufacturers of security products have been quick to meet the burgeoning demand.
Swiftronic Ltd, for example, has been a recognised maker of dependable home and personal security products for more than two decades. "Our range of do-it-yourself portable mini alarms is very popular," says marketing executive Cindy Lai.
Recently Swiftronic introduced a series of home alarms that have been "good sellers worldwide", including the model MA30 door alarm with remote control, and the WA83 and WA88 door/window alarms.
"The MA30 comes with an infrared remote control which can arm and disarm the alarm at the touch of a button," Lai explains. "This can be installed in a few seconds and provides reliable security from intruders as the sensor triggers the alarm if it detects movement in the protected area, making it ideal for use in homes, offices, garages and sheds."
She adds that WA83 and WA88 compact door/window alarms have also become very popular. "These have a magnetic sensor switch and can be fitted to doors, windows, sliding glass doors, cabinets and closets," Lai says. "The alarm is triggered when the magnetic modules are separated."
Production takes place at a 300-worker, 5,000-square-metre factory in Dongguan on the Chinese mainland, using electronic components and ABS sourced from Korea and Taiwan.
The FOB Hong Kong price of the MA30 model is about US$7.50 for a minimum order of 1,000 pieces, while the unit price of models WA83 and WA88 is about US$1.50 for minimum orders of 1,000 pieces each.
Delivery to the company's main markets in Europe, the US and Japan takes about 35 days after an order is confirmed.
"Thanks to our success as an OEM maker with in-house design and manufacturing capabilities, which cover the development of a new product from initial conception through to final production, sales of our electronic security products have been steadily rising," Lai notes.
Though only four years old, Precise Int'l (HK) Ltd has established itself as a maker of a wide range of home and office security products, winning clients in Europe, the US and Asia.
"Our PDP-100 and PDP-105 video door phone systems and model PA-MC01 motion alarm have all been very popular," says marketing manager Eva Wong.
She says the PDP-105 model offers a vandal-proof metal panel which is installed outdoors and an image recorder that can store 32 digital images. "It is easy to install and operate and has an automatic or manual time-setting function," Wong adds. "The high clarity picture with a 70? viewing angle is another excellent feature."
Precise's 200-strong workforce at a 2,000-square-metre factory in Shenzhen on the mainland produces 5,000 PDP-100 and PDP-105 video phones and 10,000 PA-MC01 motion alarms a month, using materials sourced from Korea, Japan and the mainland.
The security products are sold under the PROACT brand name. "Clients can approach us for a price quotation based on their requirements," Wong explains. "We require a minimum order of 500 sets for PDP-100 and PDP-105 video door phones and a minimum of 1,000 sets for model PA-MC01; both of which can usually be delivered 30 days after receiving a confirmed order."
Another veteran manufacturer is Abol Co Ltd, which was established in 1968 and today sells many innovative security products including home and office automation products.
Abol's VDP-800 and VDP-820 video door phones, DP-201 and DP-X20 door phones and SL-300 solar-powered house number signs have been selling well in the EU, where they are sold on an OEM basis.
The company can produce about 10,000 sets of its video door phone models and 40,000 sets each of the solar-powered house signs and audio door phones a month at its factory in Shenzhen, using plastics and ICs from Taiwan.
"Clients can approach us to get a price quotation based on their order specifications," says manager Cheryl Pong, adding that the minimum order is 3,000 pieces per model and delivery takes about 35 days.
Powerline Industrial Ltd specialises in producing lighting, power and security solutions tailored to suit both home and office environments. "We have had remarkable success with our security cameras in Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK," claims marketing executive Gordon Chan.
Take, for example, model PL-3225P, a 2.4 GHz night vision wireless security camera, which he says has been "very successful" for the 10-year-old company. "The camera has the capability to see in total darkness and can detect motion within a 300 foot transmitting range and turn on a warning alarm," Chan explains.
The camera is made at Powerline's ISO 9002- and GS-certified factory in Shenzhen, using materials mostly sourced from the mainland. Minimum order quantity is 500 pieces for delivery 45 days after order confirmation.
Proving that when it comes to ensuring the security of either home or office, Hong Kong manufacturers are trusted worldwide for their wide range of high quality products.
