Synertech Int'l Ltd's core business is the design and manufacture of video door phones and CCTV cameras for the home and other general security purposes. The company also manufactures associated system accessories as well as power meters, light and motion sensors, wall switches and timers.
For the first 20 of the past 25 years, Synertech's factory produced tooling for cases and housings and engaged in making electrical products and simple toys. From that foundation, the factory gained experience in handling plastics and production techniques for better tooling, silkscreen printing and spraying. The development of electronic items commenced in 1997.
Further milestones came in 1998, when the company completed its first ODM products and started worldwide marketing and distribution of some of its own designs.
"Our vertical integration approach means we can provide the complete service required to fully process a design from start to finish under one roof," says managing director Gregory Cheng.
The company's one-stop service, which includes packaging design with assistance from an associated company, applies to in-house designs and OEM orders. "We also do ODM work where we accept draft ideas from clients for development into prototypes suitable for manufacturing," he says.
According to Cheng, the company produces both the electronics parts and the housings. "Our efficient manufacturing process is a big plus that enables us to bring to market reliable and competitively priced products in the minimum time," he says.
Cheng says that the electronics technology used is well established and straightforward, and does not require the use of multi-layer circuit boards.
Synertech also believes in operating a clean and confidential environment. "Everything is taken care of in-house, and clients are assured of product integrity and confidentiality regarding their designs and requirements," says Cheng.
He adds that Synertech's reputation on the ODM front is growing fast. "We are working with several US and European owners of branded products such as video door phones," he points out.
Production takes place at a 250-worker factory in Dongguan on the Chinese mainland. "We have a full R&D team and use machines to process the ICs in order to keep hands-on labour to a minimum," he explains.
According to Cheng, the company's latest video door phone models use FM signals carried on low voltage wiring. "This simple, two-wire system allows for ease of installation, which is greatly appreciated in the DIY markets in the US and Europe," he says.
Noting that Japan also takes a good percentage of exports, Cheng says the two-wire technology allows for use of existing door chime wiring, which "obviously minimises the installation process".
According to Cheng, the company's current two-wire video door phone provides "unmatched operational reliability".
