Optical Packaging & Display Sets
One shape no longer says it all when it comes to outstanding optical packaging and display sets Once limited primarily to simple stands or shells, packaging and display sets are now geared to adding instant glamour to the optical experience. Today they come in all shapes, colours and sizes to match a store design concept, outfit, make-up or mood and are a speciality of Hong Kong manufacturers such as Astucci Int'l Ltd. Determined to match individual lifestyle needs with its products, the company is taking the production of glamorous optical cases to a whole new level. Astucci produces custom-designed cases in two categories for leading brand name manufacturers throughout the world: those suitable for cosmetic frames and others designed for prescription glasses. Latest products include model AS113, a sunglass case set (with cloth) in colourfully patterned microfibre, and RC922, a hand-wrapped aluminium case wrapped with new "crocodile" PU. "We always do our best to be the leaders," claims Sales and Merchandising Executive Chris Yeung, adding that "revolution and continual upgrading" are necessary. He says Astucci promotes its business by providing new product designs, continual investment in technical improvement, competitive prices, prompt delivery, tight quality control, good customer service and after-sales support. "Our reputation in the industry is top level," Mr Yeung maintains. With a production capacity of more than 1.5 million cases per month, Astucci offers a wide range of products including eyeglass cases, cloths, pouches, displays and other accessories for the optical industry. "A successful item should be able to attract its target customer," Mr Yeung explains. Astucci's design division is, therefore, constantly on the prowl for new designs, and representatives travel the world updating the firm's line of materials and production technologies. "We work for markets worldwide," Mr Yeung says. "Our main markets are the US, Western Europe and Japan but the sales from markets like Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia and South America have shown obvious growth in recent years." Ample attributes Fellow Hong Kong manufacturer, Scanpower Int'l Ltd, believes creative design, top quality and reasonable prices help to keep the company competitive. Scanpower specialises in manufacturing the signature glass display cases and showcases that have been helping optical stores display products for many years. The company focuses on design and has come up with innovative, high-quality products at extremely competitive prices, claims Manager Jenny Kwong. "We create new designs when there is a request from customers," she admits. Typical of Scanpower's products is model GT00211, a spectacles countertop display unit made of corrugated paper board. "Full graphics can be applied," Ms Kwong adds. Kong Lung Mfy Ltd also believes in converting customers' ideas into successful products by making spectacle cases that it describes as "products for tomorrow". These come in shades of blue, red and silver, in an assortment of shapes and sizes and feature a combination of contrasting materials, says General Manager Connie Wong. "Our various product lines include plastic, metal and aluminium cases with different finishes, as well as aluminium/plastic combinations, soft and semi-hard cases," she explains. The company introduces three new designs every month, targeted at markets in the US, Europe, Japan, Australia and the Middle East. "It's a very competitive industry," notes Ms Wong. "We are committed to providing premium quality products at competitive prices and on-time delivery to keep ahead of our competitors." Perfect packages Building on its reputation and customer base, 26-year-old Intercom Packaging Co Ltd is one of Hong Kong's leading packaging materials manufacturers. The company specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of packaging materials and has seen a steady growth in business in recent years. "We are working for higher-end customers," notes Sales Representative Eddie Lai. Intercom comes up with innovative designs every year, using new materials to make fancy displays such as its SD040-P01D01 nose display that comes in stylish black, silver or copper colours. "These are reflections of our commitment to increase the value of our customers' products," Mr Lai maintains. Whatever the optical product, Hong Kong manufacturers are determined to provide eye-catching optical packaging and display sets to help boost buyers' sales worldwide. TEXT BY ANIL STEPHEN FAST FACT
