A Trendsetter(HKTDC Optical,2005)
Always Top Industries Ltd
Optical manufacturer Always Top Industries Ltd is committed to providing top product quality and high customer satisfaction, according to marketing director Clara Siu.
The company's latest innovation is the introduction of a VIP service on its website, to provide customers with information about a full range of products. "The VIP service allows our customers to enjoy new services and activities that arise from time to time," adds Siu.
Always Top, which has specialised in high quality metal frames and sunglasses since 1985, uses many different raw materials to fashion its huge number of frames. "We are also strong in plastic spectacles, which include handmade cellulose acetate frames and a combination of metal and plastic frames, in step with the growing market demand," says Siu.
This year, Always Top developed an in-house brand, Two Hit Six, for the sunglasses markets in Southeast Asia and the Chinese mainland. "We are confident that this brand will speed up our expansion in Asian markets," Siu asserts. "The brand has already attracted orders from some Southeast Asian countries, and the next step is to keep our eyes open for potential on the mainland."
Meanwhile Europe and the US remain Always Top's major markets.
With more than 15 years manufacturing experience, Always Top boasts a capable in-house research and development team that produces stylish frames to meet market needs. Rimless and semi-rimless styles remain popular, notes Siu, while big and unconventional shaped eyewear is the latest trend.
Both lightweight and durable metal or plastic frames are preferred, with more designers combining Monel and stainless steel materials for that extra special touch. "Our R&D team works closely with material suppliers in Hong Kong and Italy to develop new product designs, as well as invent new materials to extend the product range," Siu notes. "Apart from keeping ourselves abreast of latest fashions, we strive to become a trendsetter in eyewear design and technology."
One of the company's new lines, the Hoop collection, is made of a new super alloy. This highly elastic metal allows the frames to be constructed without the need for hinges or screws. "The lightweight material means the frames feature an easy-to-fold temple with a slim look," says Siu.
Always Top focuses on the future: for example, in 2000 it began production of nickel-free titanium frames. Titanium is a material that is now very much in vogue. "We were well prepared to cope with the European Nickel Directive that took effect in July 2000," says Siu.
All products are manufactured at the company's 500-worker Dongguan factory on the mainland, which occupies an area of 9,000 square metres. The ISO 9002-certified plant can produce up to 100,000 optical frames a month. Its ultrasonic cleaning environment also ensures a high product quality that meets worldwide quality standards such as CE.
