Fashion Jewellery & Accessories
The ability to be fully in touch with fast-changing fashion trends and to satisfy consumers' desire for uniqueness sets Hong Kong's fashion jewellery and accessories industry apart from the ordinary.
Meticulous craftsmanship and stylish design, for example, typify a new range of fashion jewellery from Advance Jewel Int'l Co Ltd, such as the amethyst cluster crochette bracelet (model 081024-AJ-05) and the freshwater pearl wire-art necklace (model 081024-AJ-04).
"The bangle is made of a metal cuff covered with turquoise hand-woven fabric, so it has a silky look and is comfortable to wear. The centrepiece is a cluster of amethyst," Assistant Manager Ora Wong says.
"For the necklace, pearls are attached to a wire loop by hand and there is a cherry quartz flower in the middle," Ms Wong explains. "Our jewellery is meant to be versatile and can be used for any occasion and with most outfits, although our designs do reflect the latest fashion trends. Most of our jewellery and accessories are handmade and feature natural stones."
The company sources semiprecious stones from South Africa, Brazil and the Chinese mainland, and supplies markets in the US and Europe.
Sophisticated detailing and the use of crystals are also evident in the exquisite range of fashion jewellery from Neva Ltd, including a crystal-encrusted bracelet (model BC1008) and a pair of dangling earrings (model ER002218SSPU000) from its new Bohemian-style range.
"The frame of the bracelet is made of brass and elastic bands, so the whole bracelet is stretchable and is thus comfortable to wear," says Designer Nesta Man.
"The earrings are also made of brass, and computer technology enabled us to create the intricate pattern," he notes. "We created this Bohemian-style range in keeping with the prevalent Bohemian theme on catwalks for 2008/09 autumn/winter fashion collections." Among Neva's main markets are the US, the UK, Germany and Japan.
Bigger and better
Must-haves for coming seasons also include big chunky bangles from Tung San Metal Works Fty Ltd, which reflect the latest fads in favour of dramatic designs and vivid colours.
Among them are a crystal-encrusted bangle (model S/HB1915X) and a wide bangle with crystals around a big acrylic stone (model A/S/HB2109X). "Fashion trends now favour bolder and more dramatic looks, and these bangles stand out in terms of their bold designs as the perfect accessories to go with the coming seasons' hottest wardrobe items," says Sales Executive Joyce Leung.
"We use Czech crystals and both of these bangles are made of zinc alloy and coated with black epoxy, although we can offer other epoxy colours upon request," she adds. "Zinc alloy is a highly durable material that will enable the bangles to keep their shape over long periods of time."
Each bangle has a diameter of 66mm, and an inbuilt spring hinge and lock expands the diameter by up to 50mm when opened.
Bracelets, pendants, necklaces and brooches also feature in Tung San's catalogue of fashion jewellery and accessories, which are made from zinc alloy, tin alloy, steel and brass, among other materials. The company supplies the US, Canada, the UK and Spain.
Colour and glitz also characterise a new collection of necklaces and bangles from Angelina Gift & Premium Co. Hot sellers include a green wooden bead necklace (model 903644) and a mesh-patterned wooden bangle (model 904152).
"The gold-coloured bangle is an African design. We have had a lot of enquiries from customers for African-style accessories because that is a popular fashion theme for summer 2009," says Marketing Executive Malinda Ng.
"The green wooden bead necklace, on the other hand, was designed with young ladies in mind and is in keeping with the bright colours of the coming summer fashions," she advises. "Each bead is handmade and a few have hand-painted flowers on them. The beads selected are of different sizes, which give the necklace an interesting twist."
The wood used for these accessories goes through a special fumigation process to make sure that they are pest-free, Ms Ng says.
The FOB Hong Kong unit price is about US$0.70 for the necklace, and about US$0.90 for the bangle, although the exact price will depend on the quantity ordered, Ms Ng notes.
Using different materials such as tin-lead alloy and zinc alloy from Australia, Angelina Gift produces fashion jewellery for export to France, Germany and Australia.
Fashion trends come and go, but the appeal of such beautiful fashion jewellery offered by Hong Kong suppliers will certainly stay with the wearers indefinitely.
