Francas Enterprise Ltd's women's kidskin shoes reflect current fashion trends for pointed toes, heels and fancy details like punched-out patterns
Elegant leather shoes that combine comfort with creativity have long been perennial favourites with women of all ages. No one knows this better than Hong Kong shoe manufacturers, who are constantly striving to develop stylish designs in the finest materials at the best possible prices.
Francas Enterprise Ltd, for example, offers eye-catching high-end leather shoes in the finest kidskin, goat and lambskin for fashion-conscious women in Australia and Europe.
"Kidskin grades and textures are finer and smoother," explains marketing manager Dobson AuYeung. "It is therefore suitable for high-end luxurious shoes that stress elegance and flair with a modern European touch."
Francas has also developed a collection of ladies' shoes featuring kidskin uppers and linings and uppers made of synthetic materials, the latter mainly sourced from the Chinese mainland.
The company's factory in Dongguan on the mainland employs 100 workers who produce 30,000-40,000 pairs of shoes a month. Francas has its own Robert Robert and Urban Soul brands, although OEM projects are welcome.
Minimum order is 300 pairs per style, with delivery about 50 days after order confirmation. FOB Hong Kong prices range between US$15 and US$24 per pair, depending on the quantity and type of leather being used.
Equally obsessed with quality is Ahead Footwear Mfr (HK) Co Ltd, which crafts ladies' fashion shoes, sandals and casual dress shoes from the finest leather sourced in Hong Kong, the mainland and India.
Typical of its offerings is a pair of elegantly patterned black leather shoes with 7cm heels. Ideal for both formal and informal occasions, these shoes reflect Ahead's determination to keep ahead of trends in its main market, Europe.
"We regularly launch new items with creative details and neo-classical appearance to meet the ever-changing needs of today's consumers," manager Helena Chan says.
Ahead's shoes are manufactured at a 2,000-square-foot, 100-worker plant in Guangzhou on the mainland. Minimum order is 500 pairs per style at FOB Hong Kong prices ranging from US$7.50-8.50 per pair, with delivery 45 days after order confirmation.
Classic, casual and dressy designs are also a hallmark of Hung Won Trading Co, which specialises in various types of shoes for ladies in Japan. Using high quality kidskin and calf leather sourced from the mainland, the seven-year-old company can produce a pair of elegant ladies' shoes for US$6-10, FOB Hong Kong, per pair.
"Our customers tell us they like our quality and the kind of flexibility we can provide," director Wong Fai says. "We emphasise the sourcing of special accessories and trimmings as well in order to develop a wide variety of styles."
The company's mainland factory in Shenzhen is capable of producing an average of 30,000 pairs of ladies' shoes each month. Minimum order is 500 pairs per style, delivered 2-6 months after order confirmation.
Japan is also a major market for 13-year-old Peerich Investment Ltd, which uses various materials such as leather, deer and kidskin for the uppers and linings of its comfortable casual shoes.
New releases such as leather booties with brass-coloured buckles and casual shoes with cut-outs on the uppers can be customised according to buyer specifications.
"Our factory in Shunde specialises in making ladies' shoes, which comprise 90% of our total production," merchandiser Carol Tang explains. "Raw materials are sourced from the mainland, Italy and Egypt."
Peerich ensures comfort by utilising rubber or other synthetic materials (specified by customers) to make uppers. Shoes are available in sizes 34-41 (European sizing) or 22.5cm-25cm (Japanese sizing), at FOB Hong Kong US$12-35 per pair.
Peerich requires a minimum order of 300 pairs per style per colour delivered 30-45 days after order confirmation. OEM orders and ODM projects are accepted. When in full swing, its factory can produce up to 100,000 pairs of customers' private brands per month.
Peninsula Shoes Co is equally productive, manufacturing a wide range of ladies' leather shoes under its Sabatina brand or customers' own brands at its mainland factory in Zhongshan.
With a monthly production of 100,000 pairs, Peninsula exports its flexible ladies' casual shoes to East Asia and Europe 45-60 days after confirmation of a minimum order of one TEU.
Casual footwear made from the best PU and leather is also a forte of Hong-Tech Footwear Co, which has been producing a wide range of footwear since 1996. The company's manufacturing facility on the mainland employs 200 workers, who produce 100,000 pairs per month for Europe and the US.
Among the company's most popular designs is a dressy casual lady's shoe with leather uppers, TPR sole and PVC lining. Minimum order is 500 pairs per colour per style delivered 30-40 days after order confirmation.
Given this kind of commitment to the finest quality at the lowest cost, it is no wonder that Hong Kong ladies' leather shoes have become synonymous with stylish elegance the world over.
