Jibsen Industrial Ltd follows international trends in designing shoulder bags for the younger generation
Stylish shoulder bags that compare favourably with famous international labels are a speciality of Hong Kong manufacturers, who pride themselves on their commitment to quality at a competitive price.
For example, Jibsen Industrial Ltd has a team of designers who constantly update the company's shoulder bags in line with international trends. "Our styles are new every season," says marketing manager Liza Leung.
"Our designers regularly collect information from the Internet on the newest styles from Europe and North America, and we are also happy to work on customers' own designs."
She explains that Jibsen's two designers in New York and one in Hong Kong cater to the company's main market, North America, producing its own Giovane label and also under licence for US brand Chinese Laundry.
"We produce bags in many pastel colours for the summer, mainly in fabric, cotton, PVC or nylon," Leung adds. "We do make some leather bags, but 90% are fabric."
Jibsen also makes clutch and wallet bags, which, like its shoulder bags, are sold in other key markets such as South America, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Singapore and Malaysia.
All these products are manufactured at a 200,000-square-foot factory in Dongguan on the Chinese mainland that employs more than 1,000 workers who produce 100,000 pieces a month.
The 13-year-old company requests minimum orders of 300 pieces in any one style at FOB Hong Kong prices of US$3-7 a bag, and delivery is promised in 60 days. "Customers can select from our shelf products for faster delivery," adds Leung.
Buyers seeking something different should check out the shoulder bags produced by Fullwin (China) Bags Co Ltd, which prints pictures on PVC fabric using its own innovative technique.
"Our bags are meant for the 17-25 age group, most of whom like pictures of cute puppies or kittens on their bags," explains manager William Wong. "We also print pictures of movie stars on the bags and this is very popular with teenagers, who like to carry around a portrait of their screen idol."
Five-year-old Fullwin manufactures shoulder bags in many pastel colours to cater to youthful tastes, and produces bags under licence for Disney in Italy, Playboy in Australia and Paul Smith in Japan.
The company's Dongguan factory employs 500 workers, who use materials sourced from the mainland to produce minimum orders of 500 pieces. These are available at FOB Hong Kong prices ranging from US$3.50-4.50 a piece for delivery 3-4 weeks after confirmation.
More rugged and durable shoulder bags, canvas backpacks and travel packs are produced by Grand Supersac Co Ltd. "Our bags are hardwearing and practical," observes managing director Grand Lee. "They are equally useful for both sexes and are widely used by backpackers and travellers as well as sportsmen and women."
The six-year-old company's products are made of PVC, nylon and polyester, which are extremely light but very strong materials that will stand up to hard wear. "We emphasise the light weight as being ideal for backpacks and shoulder bags," Lee adds.
Most of the bags feature the company's Supersac logo. "We can put on the customers' logo if they wish, but they would have to pay for the moulding of the new logo, which is done in a different factory," Lee explains.
Grand Supersac produces some 250,000 pieces a month at its 1,200-worker mainland factory in Zhongshan for major department stores in the EU, Turkey, Chile, the UAE, Mexico and the Philippines.
The company requires a minimum order of 500 pieces in any one style or colour for delivery 55-65 days after order confirmation. "FOB Hong Kong prices can be obtained on request," adds Lee.
Kit Man Industrial Co Ltd, meanwhile, combines the best of both worlds with its shoulder bags, which prove that durability can be combined with elegance.
"Our bags in nylon, PVC, canvas, corduroy and leather are in very chic styles," says sales manager Eva Leung. "They are sporty bags, but are nonetheless a definite fashion statement and can be worn on many occasions."
She says that Kit Man's individual designs are created by its own designers, but adds that the 12-year-old, ISO 9000-certified company also manufactures customers' own designs.
The company's 500-worker factory in Shenzhen on the mainland produces more than 300,000 pieces a month, including bags for such famous international brands as Champion, Peak, Marlboro and Epson.
Leung says Kit Man's minimum order is 500 pieces in any one style and delivery is 45 days after approval of pre-production sample. "The average FOB Hong Kong price is US$4 per piece," she notes, adding that Kit Man's major markets are Europe and Japan.
However, fashion followers the world over know that when it comes to quality and style at the most competitive price nobody does it better than Hong Kong shoulder bag manufacturers.
