Taiwan Limits Triclocarban in Cosmetics
A new publication No. 1031610288 was issued by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Taiwan on 12 January 2015 to restrict the use of Triclocarban as a biocidal ingredient in special cosmetics. The new limit has become effective immediately.
Permission from the Ministry of Health and Welfare is required for cosmetic products containing Triclocarban as an ingredient below the maximum permitted level before it is manufactured or imported into Taiwan.

1. General Cosmetics
- Shower gel, Lotion, Perfume, Foundation, Lip Product, Nail Product etc
2. Special Cosmetics
- Sunscreen, Hair Dye, Deodorant, Whitening Product, etc
Permissible limit of TRICLOCARBAN in special cosmetics
TRICLOCARBAN is permitted to use as a biocidal ingredient in special cosmetics at a maximum level of 1.5% for rinse off products and 0.5% for leave on products.
