As health consciousness grows, so does demand for suitable products - and Hong Kong manufacturers offer a comprehensive selection
One of the secrets of a healthy, glowing appearance is to look after one's skin and body with top-of-the-line health, spa and body care products from Hong Kong suppliers.
Arombience Co Ltd, for example, always tries to be at the forefront of product development with a range of essential oil-scented products. The 1998-established firm's range includes bath, spa and skincare items, soaps, massage oils, home fragrances and scented candles.
A new and already popular product is the Soothing Milk Soak (model JAL-SMS), which is priced at less than US$2 per jar FOB Hong Kong based on a US$5,000 minimum order value requirement.
"This product is scented with essential oils, which we complement by the addition of colour to increase the impact of the scent," explains managing director Joseph Fong. "Most bath powders on the market don't add colour, and that is what sets the product apart in the market."
The scent range is divided into four groups: Soothing, which includes ginger and orange; Invigorating, which contains peppermint and eucalyptus; Calming, which includes lavender; and Purifying, which features rosemary and tea tree oil. "Ginger and orange are well-liked," comments Fong.
He says that a prevailing trend in this product range is for natural and organic elements. Already using natural scents, Fong reveals that many of the firm's products contain non-certified organic ingredients.
Arombience, which has its own Aromics brand, delivers orders in 6-12 weeks, depending upon the season. The UK, Japan and Germany are the firm's main markets.
Production takes place at an ISO 9000-certified, 8,000-square-metre factory in Jiangmen on the mainland that has also been certified by an independent international firm for compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practice of Cosmetic Products.
The processing and raw materials used meet the stringent standards of the US (FDA/CTFA) and the EU (Cosmetic Directive 76/768/EEC). In addition, the fragrances used are imported from the EU and conform to IFRA and RIFM guidelines.
Offering an enormous selection of bath and bodycare products is Alice and Law Co Ltd. The range includes soap flowers and leaves, bath confetti, bath salts, bath beads, soaps, bath creams, bath gel and oil, body and hand wash, and body creams.
The company was established in 1973 and believes that its experience, quality, creativity and unique products set it apart from its competitors. "We have our own R&D and design teams that are always coming up with items that have not been done before," claims manager Betty Chan.
"One of the current trends is for items that are cute and interesting," comments Chan. "For example, our new food series of soaps in the shape of a cake, a chocolate bar or a hamburger."
Continual favourites in all markets are the flower and petal items, Chan says, noting that in addition to their visual appeal the company's products also smell delicious and are scented with flower or fruit aromas.
The firm operates an ISO 9001-certified, 7,500-square-metre, 1,000-worker plant in Guangdong Province on the mainland. Raw materials are sourced from the mainland and elsewhere in Asia. Major markets are the EU, the US and Japan. Delivery is approximately 60 days after order confirmation.
Product prices range from US$0.35 for a single item to around US$3 for a gift set, and Chan says that the company's monthly production capacity is "a few million items" and that the minimum order value is US$5,000 per shipment.
Focusing on oral health, Global Team Products (HK) Ltd offers a delivery time of 45-60 days after order confirmation for a range of products that includes toothpicks, toothbrushes, hygiene and maintenance tools, multifunction tools, and stain-removing tools.
"We introduce new ideas every 3-6 months, and currently have more than 100 items in our product range," says managing director Dick Wong.
An example of a new product that goes into mass production in September is model GT0090D, an all-in-one dental tool with a light and a digital clock.
"It provides all the tools a user needs to ensure healthy teeth, gums and tongue," says Wong. "Our products bring the expertise of the dentist's office to the mass-market consumer, while helping them to maintain their oral care wellness between dental visits."
The company was founded in 1998, and has several factories with a total area of 5,000 square metres in the Guangdong area on the mainland. Oral Care is the in-house brand name, and the company complies with CE, RoHS and FDA standards.
Raw materials are sourced in Southeast Asia and Japan, while North America and the EU form the major markets. The minimum order value is US$5,000 per shipment. "We can produce between 500,000 and one million units of each model per month," comments Wong.
Looking good to your customers is easy when you work with Hong Kong manufacturers.
