EU Ecolabel Ecological Criteria for Rinse-off Cosmetics Products
A new EU Commission Decision 2014/893/EU was published on 9 December 2014 to define the criteria for awarding the EU Ecolabel under Regulation (EC) No. 66/2010 for rinse-off cosmetic products and related assessment and verification requirements. Decision 2007/506/EC is repealed by this new Decision 2014/893/EU.
Scope of the Decision 2014/893/EU
The scope of this decision includes:
- any rinse-off substance or mixture falling under the scope of Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009
- products intended to be placed in contact with the epidermis and/or the hair system, e.g. toilet soaps, shower preparations, hair conditioning products, shaving products.
- Products for both private and professional use
The scope of this decision excludes:
- Products that are specifically marketed for disinfecting or anti-bacterial use (However, anti-dandruff shampoos are allowed)
