Hong Kong International Stationery Fair
It's time for buyers to pencil into their 2009 diaries a stationery show that promises to BE a bonanza of creativity
One of Asia's major trading platforms, the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair 2009, will showcase an exciting array of innovative items to fill demands in thriving world markets.
Organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt, the ninth edition of the event is to be held from 5-8 January 2009 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
This truly international show is a long-time favourite with traders. "This stationery fair is one of the best in the world and is very useful for my business as exhibitors here display products of high quality and innovative designs," remarked frequent visitor Sumit Pasricha, Director of AMPRO, an importer and exporter of corporate promotional products in India. "The fair organisers are very helpful and everything about the exhibition is right - from organisation to service and facilities."
The coming fair will once again be an epitome of trends in the global stationery market, which demands functional yet fashionable designs. On display will be a diverse collection of stationery and back-to-school products, including environmentally-friendly pens and pencils, colourful paper and bags, stylish and functional organisers and office supplies, and creative stationery and educational items for children.
Three specialised zones will be arranged to facilitate sourcing, namely Children's Stationery & School Supplies Zone, Office Supplies Zone, and Paper & Printing Products Zone.
Networking events will be organised to provide participants with more opportunities to make useful contacts, while seminars will be conducted to update traders on the latest industry developments.
Adding to the show's appeal is the concurrent running of the renowned HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair 2009, which will benefit especially buyers with cross-interests.
The stationery fair is ideally located in Hong Kong, home to a vibrant stationery industry which exported a total of US$668m worth of products (excluding printed matter) in the first seven months of 2008. Its wide-ranging products - including ODM, licensed, high-end and own-brand items - sell to numerous markets, led by the Chinese mainland, the US and the EU.
The Hong Kong International Stationery Fair 2009 will build on the success of its previous edition, which attracted 16,464 buyers from 118 countries and regions, and 269 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions.
"The fair is very well organised with a great variety of exhibitors all under one roof. The quality of the products is impressive while the exhibition venue is so conveniently located in the heart of the city that we can make the best use of our time," says Carlos E. Osorio, Distribution Manager of Ronda s.a., a distributor of stationery and toys in Colombia, said at the 2008 event.
His sentiment was echoed by Elisabetta Poletti, Buyer of Fiori Paolo s.r.l. of Italy. "The scale of the exhibition is so big and there are lots of new stationery items on display. Hong Kong is an important sourcing centre and it produces many new ideas for the industry," she said.
Exhibitors were equally impressed. "Through the show we have come to know a lot of buyers from all over the world. We use the fair as a channel to promote our image, to show people what we can do," said local exhibitor Lancy Kam, Director of Development of Polyfit Industrial Ltd.
Given such ringing endorsements, it's clearly time for buyers to put pen to paper and sign up for the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair 2009.
