HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair


Asia's premier houseware show is the place to be for buyers keen to home in on the best deals

The HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair willf once again showcase the gamut of trendy and innovative household and lifestyle products in 2009, reinforcing its position as the largest event of its kind in Asia.

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council from 20-23 April 2009 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the show will make participants feel at home by providing a pleasant and convenient environment for trade, networking and information exchange.

"I am glad to come here to see new items every time and to reorder from existing suppliers," enthused frequent visitor Alfonso Ochoa, Director General of Representaciones Albis S.A de C.V of Mexico. "It provides a good chance for face-to-face negotiations and the HKTDC is always here to offer assistance."

Exhibitors are also invariably impressed. "We're dealing with a global market and to tap into that market you need the best show and there isn't one better than this," remarked Troy Anderson, President of FilterStream Co of the US. "There's lots of international traffic that is really hard to find at any other fair."

Main attractions

Among the highlights of the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair 2009 are various specialised zones, namely the:

  • Hall of Elegance - for designer collections and brand names that are the epitome of style and quality
  • Posh Corner - for a broad and eclectic range of distinctive home living items sporting style and creativity
  • Health & Wellness zone - for well-being products such as fitness equipment, health and personal care items, spa/aromatherapy, "silver age" products for older consumers and toiletries
  • Paintings & Objets d'Art zone - for a broad range of artistic products
  • World of Pet Supplies - for pet-related products and services, aquatic products, veterinary products, as well as shop fittings and packaging

A series of seminars and forums will also be held to update participants on key industry topics.

The event will build on its success in 2008, when 2,383 exhibitors came from 38 countries and regions, including 15 group pavilions from Australia, the Chinese mainland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the US and Vietnam.

"We are pleased with the results we achieve at the exhibition, as the fair attracts a large number of quality buyers from different parts of the world. We are very impressed with the HKTDC's professional services and organisation," exhibitor Carol Yeung, Marketing Manager of United Asia Art Co of Hong Kong, said at last year's fair.

Smash hit

The show attracted 29,068 visitors from 145 countries and regions, including 83 buying missions representing major retailers and distributors. They were thrilled by the extensive array of offerings including tableware, kitchenware, pet accessories and home decoration items.

"There are so many different types of products and designs that there's no need to go anywhere else," V.K. Abdul Azeez, Branch Manager (RAK & Fujairah) of Al Aqili Distribution L.L.C of the UAE said at last year's event.

Such glowing reviews leave little doubt that participants in the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair 2009 will hit home runs.
