Executive Gifts(HKTDC Gifts, Premium & Stationery, Vol 04,2006)
|This glittering series of rhinestone stationery items comes from Bronte Mfg Co Ltd|
Quality and design always feature first when it comes to executive gifts, whether it be a useful electronic item or something more playful.
As befits a leader in the field, Hong Kong is committed to offering buyers an ample selection of gorgeous goodies such as those manufactured by Bronte Mfg Co Ltd.
The 22-year-old company's latest collection features glittering rhinestone-studded designs befitting for lady executives.
"Our creations are very modern as we understand that fashionable ladies opt for stationery and accessories that complement their clothes or handbags," explains manager Ricky Soong.
Bronte's latest collection includes a stapler and tape dispenser that feature a distinctive leopard-skin pattern, as well as magnifier, letter opener and business cardholder embellished with pink rhinestones.
The items, both of which feature solid brass from Japan and Swarovski rhinestones, cost US$15-60 apiece FOB Hong Kong for minimum order values of US$10,000.
"We are selling mainly to the US, Italy, France and the UK," Soong reveals. "Rhinestone-trimmed items are especially popular with gift buyers from US department stores, accounting for nearly half of our total sales."
Bronte's 4,620-square-metre, 250-worker factory in Dongguan on the Chinese mainland produces 30,000 gift items a month. "Delivery usually takes 60 days, subject to the availability of rhinestones in special colours," adds Soong.
Sparkle also spells success for Kam Fat Crystal Trading Co, which manufactures crystal gifts, ornaments and trophies at its 20,000-square-feet, 150-worker factory in Dongguan.
The 15-year-old company produces 20,000 units a month and exports primarily to Europe, the US, Japan and Asia, explains director Yuen Cham Hoi.
"We have more than 1,000 styles available, with models ranging from desktop stationery to miniatures, perfume bottles, jewellery boxes and plaques," he notes. "We also custom-make designs for corporate clients looking for something unique."
Typical of Kam Fat's output is a desktop stationery set that combines a photo frame, crystal sphere and calendar in one handy item.
There are nine different yet extremely practical combinations available for approximately US$30 apiece FOB Hong Kong for US$2,000 minimum order values.
Equally attractive butterfly jewellery boxes that cost US$10 each can also be delivered five days after order confirmation.
Yuen claims that Kam Fat is renowned for its quality. "This is achieved by using first-grade lead crystal from the mainland and placing great emphasis on workmanship from finishing and polishing to engraving," he maintains, adding that Kam Fat also sells retail gifts that bear its own Treasury Island brand.
Fellow crystal-product manufacturer Martech (HK) Co Ltd has been shipping its myriad of crystal clocks, figurines, trophies and desktop accessories worldwide since its founding in 1998.
The company offers more than 1,000 existing designs, adds 8-10 new creations each month and also tailor-makes prototypes to meet customers' seasonal needs or for special corporate events.
Martech's 20,000-square-foot, 100-worker factory in Jiangsu Province on the mainland produces 30,000 pieces monthly, which are available in minimum order quantities of 100 items delivered 30 days after order confirmation.
"It is interesting to note that different markets have different preferences - for example, US customers adore our mini clocks, Europeans go for animal figurines and Japanese buyers crave jewellery boxes," observes marketing manager Carmen Yu.
Besides serving as corporate premiums, Martech's crystal products also grace the shelves of jewellery shops or department stores.
Yu says that with crystal mini clocks or name-card holders costing US$10-15 apiece FOB Hong Kong, Martech's products are in the high-end market for premiums and the middle-price range for consumer gifts.
"We sell quality," she claims. "Just from the silhouette of our design and workmanship, buyers can easily detect a distinctive difference from many others in the market."
Create World (HK) Ltd certainly knows the importance of creativity when supplying its wealth of crystal products to world markets.
Though a relative newcomer that was only established in 2003, the company is already selling to the US, Europe, Dubai and various Asian countries.
"We have hundreds of styles listed in our catalogue, but most customers will request us to modify original designs so that their corporate gifts are different from others," says manager Kevin Chan.
Among the newest designs from Create World are a penholder with a black crystal base and a blue crystal diamond that costs US$20 FOB Hong Kong and a crystal name-card holder with base and metal feet unit-priced at US$15.
Practical items such as photo frames, cardholders and paperweights are most commonly chosen as premium gifts, though the company also produces a lot of trophies.
Create World's three factories in Dongguan and Jiangsu, which cover a total area of 3,500 square metres and employ 200 workers, help the company achieve US$200,000-300,000 in monthly sales.
"Our turnaround time is 30 days and we have no minimum order requirement," Chan reveals. "Customers will understand that the cost might be higher if the order quantity is smaller.'
Thanks to this profusion of creative ideas and superb service, Hong Kong is without a doubt the best sourcing hub for buyers seeking classy collections of executive gifts.
