Argentina Updates List of Banned Pesticide Active Principles, Approves New Registration Procedures for Medicinal Specialties

Argentina has approved a new list of banned active principles in fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides, acaricides, growth regulators and related products. The new list contains 86 separate active principles, ranging from 2,4,5-T to warfarin. A second list includes 14 active principles whose use is restricted while a third list includes six other prohibited substances.

Separately, Argentinean authorities have unveiled new registration procedures for medicinal specialties containing synthetic or semi-synthetic pharmaceutical active principles that do not require proof of bioequivalence and/or bioavailability. Entities that register in accordance with these procedures will have a maximum period of 30 working days to request verification of the first batch as well as 35 working days to complete the commercialisation authorisation procedure.
