AAFA Releases 18th Edition of Restricted Substances List
The 18th edition of the AAFA RSL covers 12 categories with more than 250 chemicals and is updated to reflect additions or changes to regulations and laws that restrict or ban certain chemicals in apparel, footwear, and finished home textile products. It is intended to provide the industry with information to facilitate compliance in the global marketplace and creating a safer and sustainable supply chain. The latest AAFA RSL Release 18  was published with the major changes outlined in the table below.

Restriction for Textiles / Metal Parts / Surface Coatings and Printing - Lead (Pb)
Removed test method – Rate of lead release: DIN 54233-4 for European Union
|Organotin Compounds||Added Turkey to “Other Countries that also Regulate this Substance” for Triphenyltin (TPhT)|
|Phthalates||Added to comments – Washington State Children’s Product Safety Act Part 1 (RCW 70.240.020) restricts the six phthalates. The sum of DEHP, BBP, DBP, DINP, DIDP and DnOP must not exceed 1000 ppm|
