|Makers of televisions, audiovisual equipment, battery chargers, home appliances and other products find much of what they need from Yoto Electronics Ltd.|
IN the fast-moving consumer electronics industry, Yoto Electronics Ltd maintains a sharp edge by keeping pace with the beat in making components to fit new product trends.
"We work closely with customers to develop components tailored to specific functions, sizes and other requirements as stipulated by new product designs," says marketing manager Ken Kong.
Thirteen-year-old Yoto makes transformers, inductors, choke coils, current sense inductors, data line-filters, EMI shield beads, wideband chokes and EMI BC beads suitable for use in switching power suppliers, televisions, audiovisual equipment, battery chargers and home appliances.
"Consumer electronics products are getting smaller. We respond by innovating new components to match that trend. We are developing more SMD and SMT to meet growing demand," enthuses Kong.
The raw materials come from Taiwan, South Korea and sometimes Japan (the latter if more economical substitutes are unavailable). Yoto's professionalism lies in its ability to source raw materials to perform all necessary functions at a modest price.
"This saves money for customers because it lowers their costs, enabling their end products to be more competitive in the consumer market," says Kong.
A stringent quality control system safeguards against any problems. "Besides random-checking of all incoming materials, we execute full inspections of manufactured components before delivering them to customers. Our factory is ISO 9001-certified, and we strictly follow the standards required in all our procedures to ensure products maintain a high degree of quality," assures Kong.
Monthly production capacity is 28 million pieces at Yoto's 12-year-old, 700-worker factory in Dongguan on the Chinese mainland.
Yoto relies on strong service, reliable quality and reasonable prices as major selling points. Citing price ranges is difficult because each item is custom-made, and choice of materials can greatly affect costs.
India, Germany and the US are major markets, together accounting for more than 50% of sales. Other important customers are in Italy, Japan, Hong Kong and elsewhere. Many have bought from Yoto for more than eight years.
"We sell directly to manufacturers. Appearing in trade magazines and at trade fairs helps our business to keep expanding," says Kong.
"We require no minimum quantity. That is very flexible. Shipment can be within 15-30 days. We try our best to accommodate all buyers' needs," concludes Kong.
