On The Road Again
John Mfg Ltd presents a functional and entertaining TV set with AM/FM radio, fluorescent lantern, spotlight, blinking light and siren alarm
Today's sophisticated car owners who wish to maximise their leisure time are installing state-of-the art entertainment systems. Catering to this burgeoning market, manufacturers are constantly developing new multifunctional product lines with appeal to both the daily commuter and the weekend recreational road traveller.
One such manufacturer is Chongqing Electronics Ltd. Established in 1986, Chongqing specialises in producing car entertainment systems and recently launched a CD receiver/MP3 decoder.
The new CD receiver/MP3 decoder boasts alpine-style push-button control, newly fashioned front panel design and 3D EQ selection on the LCD display.
It also incorporates a number of new features including fold-down detachable faceplate, supporting MP3, CD and tuner function, is MP3, CD, CD-R and CD-RW disc-compatible and comes with PLL AM/FM tuner with 30 preset stations.
"Our product is very price competitive, targeting the medium-end market," states Chongqing marketing manager Stephen Wu. "While we market our products worldwide, we are targeting the European market in particular with this CD receiver/MP3 decoder as it is a very strong recreational vehicle market."
The CD receiver/MP3 decoder is produced by Chongqing at its factory located in Dongguan on the Chinese mainland, which employs some 300 workers.
Sourcing raw materials and components from Korea and Japan as well as the mainland, Chongqing produces 500-1,000 CD receiver/ MP3 decoders per month. Chongqing will accept minimum orders of 500 pieces of the CD receiver/MP3 decoder with FOB Hong Kong price open to negotiation.
"We anticipate that production will increase as market awareness of our product grows," continues Wu. "With delivery within 50 days of order confirmation, we are able to fulfill quotas to meet the tightest delivery deadlines."
Also catering to the ever-increasing demand and popularity of car entertainment systems, Edton Precision Technologies Ltd recently launched a car DVD.
"We have recently introduced a number of new special features to our car DVD system," says Edton general manager Edward Li. "As well as a motorised, auto flip-down detachable panel and 5.1 channels, new models also incorporate high-end car specifications such as 3G anti-vibration and operation temperature control ranging from -20 degrees to 70 degrees centigrade."
A regular participant at a number of trade fairs around the world, Edton plans to concentrate its marketing efforts in markets such as Hong Kong, the US and Germany. "We also advertise in relevant trade publications around the world, particularly in our main markets which are the US and Europe," adds Li.
Sourcing raw materials for production from both the mainland and Japan, Edton produces the car DVD at its 800-worker factory in Huizhou on the mainland.
With monthly production of the car DVD currently running at 10,000 per month, delivery time is within 30 days from order confirmation of a minimum of 300 car DVDs. FOB Hong Kong price stands at US$230 per unit.
Orient Power Mobile Electronics Ltd (OPME), meanwhile, produces a car DVD player and radio combined that it promotes as a sophisticated, high-end all-in-one solution for the motoring enthusiast.
"Our car DVD player model DVD162 is anti-shock and vibration and heat resistant, allowing motorists to travel in any conditions while having complete confidence in our product," says OPME marketing assistant Kali Wong.
OPME, which will be targeting major markets in the US and Canada with a major promotional drive this year, sources raw materials such as the pick-up and VFD displays from Japan while software is produced in-house by OPME Hong Kong.
Mainland factories located in Dongguan and Nanjing employing a combined workforce of some 5,000 production staff enable OPME to guarantee delivery of a minimum order of 1,000 pieces within 90-120 days of order confirmation at approximately FOB Hong Kong US$250.
Maximum mobile entertainment audibility and clarity is the speciality of Union Team Ltd, which produces a wide range of car audio system speakers. Highly sensitive, these speakers also incorporate 21st century design features with the image-conscious consumer in mind.
"We target the middle- to upper-end of the consumer market in the US, Europe and the Middle East," says Union Team marketing officer Jenny Lam. "Our current marketing programme includes participation at trade fairs in Hong Kong and Hungary as well as print advertisements in electronics magazines."
Sourcing raw materials from the mainland, Taiwan and Japan, Union Team employs some 120 workers at its factory located in Zhejiang Province.
Monthly production of 100,000 car audio system speakers means minimum orders of 1,000-2,000 items can be filled within 30 days of order confirmation, with FOB Hong Kong prices negotiated according to order size and other customer requirements.
